wow it is almost April
Well, Belle has settled into our routine here. She is a ball of fur. Still have not gotten her papers so I can get her groomed, but I do brush her every day and she is getting better about it. Taco is a little devil as usual and he and Belle seem to like one another more and more. I am happy to have her, now with the weather warming up, I hope to be outside more with my buddies. Will keep this updated and hopefully get pics after she is groomed. Have a great day!

Sunday number one
Well, here it is Sunday. We are still together. Belle has been sick. She did have a day of vomiting...phlegm mostly and just not feeling well. She still is not up and running, but she is eating a little dry food and drinking water. She is doing better at coming into the house and into more of the sun porch. It cracks me up to see her run in the kitchen...and then a dead stop to check and see where I am. She is responding more and more to her name and Taco has been laying all over her and next to her. I guess they are becoming friends. Hopefully with the warmer weather she will become more active. We'll see how this week goes......

Small steps
Well, this is a new step for me. Taco has been lonely since Kurt left us last year. I have been contemplating another dog...and along comes Belle.
Belle is a rescued dog. She only has three legs and is a Scottish Terrier...Long black fur with just a touch of white. I was told she was a very quiet little girl and weighed only 14 lbs. Well she is far from 14 lbs.
My worst fear was Taco not accepting another dog here, but that was the least of my worries. She didn't want him around and growled at him. She did not really have a name and so it was Belle...now I have Taco - Belle. I put Belle in a cage, but she did not stay there. I was told she was very shy, but not here. She settled in very well.
One problem is that she does not move....well, she wasn't moving...just laying in the same spot I put her.
I got her on Tuesday, March 10. She has made herself quite at home. She is lifting her head when I call her name. She has learned how to get into the house from outside and is moving farther into the house now. She runs thru the kitchen when we come in and looks like a little black mop...hair flying as she tries to run...but at least she is moving.
Now another milestone is met....she was barking this early morning when she heard voices outside! I have another protector!!!
Each day is bringing more and more small steps achieved. When I go into the bathroom she will get up and peek around the corner to see where I am.
For a shy dog, she is coming out of her shell well. I hope she will be coming to the kitchen soon to go outside, but for now, I will take each small step as an achievement....for a disabled dog..she is a really calm soul.....and Taco and Belle are now sleeping together....side by side....and I will now try and get back to sleep and hope no more fighting neighbors....Good night and have a wonderful day.....
